Crown and valve-relief geometry
Crown contours and valve reliefs are developed around combustion-chamber geometry and the valve arrangement. Confirm clearance against the complete engine build.
Explore this detail ↗Ring grooves and pin-bore layout
Groove dimensions, pin position and compression height are project specifications. Discuss the ring pack, stroke and connecting-rod combination together.
Explore this detail ↗Internal features and oil passages
Actual close-ups reveal internal contours and drilled features. Oiling details and pin requirements are reviewed for the selected design.
Explore this detail ↗Molybdenum skirt coating
Molybdenum skirt coatings help reduce friction, improve running-in and control noise in applicable configurations.

Designed as part of the whole engine.

Valve and camshaft flexibility
Selected models use a zero-offset pin and retain material below the crown for valve-pocket machining. Crown designs can accommodate larger valves and high-lift camshafts, subject to the specified engine combination.
Offset-pin and skirt development
Most designs use an offset pin to help reduce cold-start noise. Strut-style skirt designs balance wear, noise and rocking control; selected applications can operate at clearances such as 0.004 in.
Compression height and groove details
Compression-height options support short- and long-stroke combinations. Pressure-balance grooves and project-specific valve reliefs address different aspects of the piston design.
Features vary by model and application. Final alloy, components, clearances and installation requirements follow the confirmed product specification. Horsepower examples describe specific project configurations, not a universal piston rating.
PIN SUPPORT & LUBRICATION
Support where the loads meet.

Dual forced pin oiling
Standard-equipped models feature dual forced pin oil holes and accumulator grooves to support lubrication and stability at high engine speeds.
A matched component package
Applicable packages include 9310 nickel-alloy steel pins, a complete ring set and aluminium pin-boss support. The supplied components are specified with the piston.
Heavy-duty pin upgrades
Selected high-output applications offer or recommend HD pins, including project configurations targeting 600+ or 1,000+ hp. Suitability depends on the engine, loads and complete specification.

RING PACKAGE & OIL CONTROL
Match the ring pack to the piston.

GFX steel top ring. Napier second ring.
Applicable standard ring packages use a GFX steel top ring, a Napier second ring and a 3 mm oil ring, balancing friction reduction and oil control.
Groove detail matters
Anti-detonation grooves help keep the top-ring groove clean. Ring selection and groove dimensions are developed as a matched specification.
Matched and pre-packaged
Selected products are matched and pre-packaged to reduce selection time and the risks of combining incompatible components. Street and track-day packages focus on convenient installation and long-term durability.
